If I were you, I'd avoid Bexley Hall... Unless they have a new worship prof, Huffman is mainstream Liturgical Renewal and is anti-Anglo-Catholic. His worship class was (ironically) my lowest grade at Trinity and it was due to arguments with the prof rather than me not knowing my liturgy...
Big thumbs up for GTS although, again, their program has suffered in recent years with the firing of Farwell. Nevertheless, the commitment to solid thrice-daily Anglican worship, the proximity to Smokey Mary, and to the Holy Cross folk make it still highly desirable. (Whatever their liturgy person can't teach you, Fr. Gerth can and will!)
If I end up at General, I really want to go to SMV for Sung Mattins and Solemn Evensong & Benediction, and to the Resurrection for High Mass.
Hmmm. Shoot me an email, we'll talk...
General.
I was just at StMV for Evensong. I was disappointed that the choir was not singing. The music was largely plainchant with a cantor. The stock market tumble has hit the endowment income of lots of parishes like St. Mary's, necessitating big spending cuts.
Plainsong at Evensong & Benediction is what I'm accustomed to. Choral music isn't a big draw for me.
Being that I visit St. Gregory's Abbey a couple of times a month (my spiritual director is there), I recommend it highly. It's very isolated---but if you're discerning a vocation as a Benedictine, that shouldn't be a problem!
