Hello-I am asking this question here, although it is not connected to the post. Can anyone suggest what kind of liturgy would have been used on a Sunday morning in the 1860's or 70's in a Parish in rural Eastern Ontario? The building shows some influence of the Oxford Movement, but this was at the zenith of the Orange Lodge. I'm thinking Matins and Ante Communion (Litany?) with the "Judas Walk" after the Prayer for the Church (which we would mention but ignore. What hymns might have been sung? (I want to avoid the syrupy evangelical hymns of that time.)I am assuming surplce and scharf or stole and north end. (The altar cannot be turned). If necessary, we could move this up to around 1900. Any thoughts? Thank you.
